North Carolina Area Health Education Connect (NC AHEConnect) provides their expertise in designing and laying out the online courses developed for POG. This includes creating graphic designs, adding photos, and recording narrations to make the courses user-friendly. NC AHEConnect’s mission is to provide education programs and services that bridge academic institutions and communities to improve the health of North Carolina residents with a focus on underserved populations.

Emergency Medical Services Performance Improvement Center (EMSPIC) hosts POG’s online courses and provides technical support for the POG Project website. Housed within the Emergency Medicine Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, EMSPIC provides linkage between the UNC Health Care System, Department of Emergency Medicine, North Carolina Office of EMS (NC OEMS), and other leading facilities. Their goal is to provide a variety of cutting-edge IT programs which are aimed towards comprehensive prehospital trauma and disaster services, coordination, policy-making, regulation, and research. EMSPIC develops, maintains, and supports several inter-connected web-based state-wide applications, including Prehospital Medical Information System (PreMIS), Credentialing Information System (CIS), State Medical Asset Resource Tracking Tool (SMARTT), and EMS Performance Improvement Toolkits.

North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NC OEMS) assisted the POG Project by reviewing courses and approving eligibility of continuing education units (CEU). NCOEMS is the EMS regulatory agency for North Carolina. Its mission is to foster emergency medical systems, trauma systems, and credentialed EMS personnel to improve responses to emergencies and disasters, which will result in higher quality emergency medical care delivered to the residents and visitors of North Carolina.

University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine (UNC SOM) provides the core manpower behind the project. Staff create the online training courses from scratch, review test scores, communicate with partners, and manage the projects resources. UNC SOM’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of North Carolinians and others whom they serve. This is accomplished by providing leadership and excellence in the interrelated areas of patient care, education, and research. They strive to promote faculty, staff, and learner development in a diverse, respectful environment where colleagues demonstrate professionalism, enhance learning, and create personal and professional sustainability.

WakeMed Center for Innovative Learning assists the POG Project by creating and facilitating realistic mobile simulation training for EMTs in participating counties. WakeMed Center for Innovative Learning’s goal is to facilitate realistic multi-disciplinary clinical training and education using human patient simulators, educational gaming, and other technologies. This allows clinicians to practice their skills in a realistic environment, learn from their mistakes, and gain confidence.
